ANDPA Statement in Solidarity with Marginalised Communities
The Alliance for Neurodiversity and Disability in GLAMR Professions Australia Inc. (ANDPA) is a values-based organisation that stands by its values of Community, Pride, Belonging, and Leadership. ANDPA is committed to these values and recognises the intersectionality of our community.
In light of recent political events in the United States, ANDPA stands in solidarity with people from all marginalised communities and those who experience systemic exclusion or discrimination. We express our support for those communities most at risk of racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and sexism.
The principle of ‘leadership by those most impacted’ is about showing a willingness to listen and be led by the people who experience injustice, marginalisation, and systemic barriers most severely. As such, it is through community care and action that we uplift and support marginalised voices, particularly in times of heightened vulnerability and uncertainty.
Oppression and marginalisation take root where silence and apathy prevail. When we witness marginalisation – whether through systemic barriers, cultural bias, or overt hostility – speaking out is not optional.
Our hope and action lie within the communities that we are grounded in. To stand with marginalised communities is to affirm their inherent worth and rights.
We continue in care, community, and solidarity.
